Colorful New Year Calendar 2014

New Year is the time when a new calendar year begins. New Year is welcomed each year with a hope in the heart that it will bring peace, harmony and prosperity. Different regions and cultures celebrate New Year in different time of the year and of course according to their own traditions and customs. According to Gregorian calendar, which is followed worldwide, New Year starts on 1st of January and ends on December 31st. In many of the countries such as Spain, UK, Italy and Czech Republic the New Year day that is January the 1st is being observed as national holiday. Chinese follow the calendar which is lunisolar hence their New Year falls on different day each year. In the coming year 2014 the first day of the year is January 31 and the year is called the ‘Horse Year’. It is also known as Spring Festival in China. Chinese New year is termed as Lunar New Year.

The celebrations include different events like fireworks, lion dances, family gathering, family meals, giving red envelopes, visiting friends and relatives, decorating with duilian and making special prayers.
